Jonny McGilloway

Innovative, calming, hilarious. Jonny is our Lead Creative at our built-in studio at Iceland Foods. He has been in the industry for 9 years, after studying TV and Film Production at University. But his passion for photography really unfolded after shooting landscapes and the night sky in Ireland.

Jonny believes self-learning is the best kind of learning but admits Powerhouse have contributed greatly to his advanced knowledge in the field. He joined us back in 2017, after having worked for himself specialising in food and drink.

What gets him most excited about his job is all those creative briefs that seem impossible and require innovative and technical photography techniques. He’s an internal visualiser, sometimes he draws ideas but usually finds they evolve better when he keeps them in his mind. He’s often inspired by little decisive moments of light in everyday life.

Jonny’s a key member of the Powerhouse team and feels proud to have been part of several rebrands for Iceland Foods. One of his most memorable clients was without a doubt Tyson Fury and being able to shoot his energy drink brand Furocity.

“If I could team up and shoot for any brand it would be Tayto Crisps, because they’re simply the best. I’d do a free shoot for a lifetime supply!” – Jonny.

When he’s not in the Iceland studios, you can find him hanging out with his wife, walking his Mini Schnauzer, foraging for mushrooms, cooking up a storm in the kitchen or taking photos on the streets!
