The brief

PlastiKote and DUPLI-COLOR faced outdated imagery and an extremely competitive market; prompting a complete visual refresh to better engage audiences, stand out and more importantly, educate potential customers. The project called for two main deliverables: a series of how-to videos showing the best ways to use the product and a comprehensive bank of photography. These assets had to cover five key product lines across the two brands and would be used on their respective website and social channels.

The routes were clear

For PlastiKote, the focus was on inspiration, showcasing the PURE and Twist & Spray ranges. For DUPLI-COLOR, the focused was on ease of use, with content created for the PLATINUM, NEXT and AQUA ECO+ lines.

The challenges

This project presented a few challenges. The first was working with two distinct brands under one shoot, each with its own identity, audience and visual style. Ensuring that both were represented authentically, while still maintaining a cohesive overall production, required careful planning.

The second one, was shooting photography and video simultaneously, as each format requires different lighting techniques, framing and pacing. But honestly? That’s pretty much standard practice these days.

And finally, logistics also played a huge part, with the need to maximise time and resources meant designing sets that could be reworked quickly and efficiently to create multiple variations, including both workshop-style and lifestyle spaces.

Our approach

This wasn’t the usual brief-and-shoot. We were given the freedom to guide how the two brands would look visually going forward. So, we (very happily) took creative reigns and built distinctive moodboards and storyboards tailored to each brand.

Our creative lead, Luke, brought the concepts to life using generative AI, reflecting each brand’s identity. This approach not only helped visualise ideas more clearly but also ensured alignment with the client from the very start:

  • For DUPLI-COLOR, the set embraced a minimal, Nordic aesthetic with Scandi-style furniture to resonate with its European audience.
  • For PlastiKote, we featured bold colours and contrasting furniture and backdrops to capture its playful, DIY spirit.

By using AI, we were able to experiment with colours, layouts, and set designs quickly, reducing the back and forth and cutting down on time spent on revisions or last min changes. The result was a more efficient creative process, with a clear shared vision that made the shoot smoother, more focused, and ultimately more impactful.

On the other hand, to fully maximise time and efficiency, we used one large studio space with two flexible rigs. As the cameras captured one set, our team was already transforming the next behind the scenes, repainting, redressing, and organising props and furniture to guarantee a smooth flow and keep things on track.

Finally, we kept post-production and longevity in mind from the start. By digitally adjusting details like wall colours and styling, we could showcase different products without reshooting, giving the client more content variety from a single production.

Results

In just three days, we produced 149 still assets, far exceeding the client’s initial request of 24. Alongside this, we created five step-by-step videos, one for each product range.

Our strategic approach increased the number of assets sixfold while saving both time and budget.
